Cayuga Street House Fire Brought Under Control by Seneca Falls and Surrounding Companies

Seneca Falls, NY- A heavy multi-agency emergency response converged on Cayuga Street early Thursday evening after a working structure fire broke out inside a two-story residential dwelling in central Seneca County.

At approximately 6:10 p.m. on September 10, the Seneca County Communications Center dispatched the Seneca Falls Volunteer Fire Department alongside preplanned mutual aid companies following 911 reports of smoke billowing from the roof of a residence on Cayuga Street.

District Chief Farnsworth (Car 1461) was en route immediately and arrived on scene within one minute of dispatch, reporting visible smoke pushing from the two-story home and officially transmitting a working fire declaration to escalate incoming resources.

Seneca Falls crews responded with an extensive apparatus complement including Quint 1, Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue 52, and command units 1463, 1464, and 1465. Arriving firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack while securing primary water sources and establishing perimeter safety sectors.

Due to the size of the structure and the operational demands of interior firefighting, a broad regional mutual aid network was activated. Firefighting units from the Fayette, Waterloo, Geneva, Tyre, and Clyde fire departments operated on scene alongside the Oaks Corners Fire Department, which provided dedicated rehabilitation services for active interior personnel. Support operations and scene logistics were further bolstered by the Seneca Falls and Waterloo auxiliaries.

Also assisting on the fireground were the Seneca Falls Police Department, North Seneca Ambulance, NYSEG utility crews, Seneca County Code Enforcement, the Seneca County Fire Coordinators, and the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team to determine the origin and cause.

While frontline crews battled the fire, the Canoga Fire Department relocated apparatus and personnel to stand by at the Seneca Falls fire station, maintaining district coverage for any simultaneous emergency calls. No injuries were reported among building occupants or emergency responders.
