In the afternoon of December 30, units responded to a crash on the East Deer side of the New Kensington Bridge that was alleged to have occurred under unclear circumstances. Around 4:25 p.m., firefighters were sent to the Freeport Road area close to the bridge. 134 Engine 1 and 160 Engine 1 were among the responding apparatus. On-site crews worked to evaluate the situation, ensure scene safety, and offer assistance where required. While emergency personnel worked, traffic in the region was affected, and drivers were cautioned to drive carefully through the bridge approaches.
