PATERSON, NJ - A two-alarm fire at the dead end of E. 19th St. in Paterson on December 23rd, caused extensive damage to a multi-family home. The fire was initially reported shortly before 1:00 P.M., with smoke showing from the second-floor and attic as units arrived. Soon, flames vented out of several windows on the second-floor. Firefighters had those flames knocked down quickly, but fire had extended into the walls of the balloon frame home and traveled into the attic space. A second-alarm was transmitted. Members worked for almost two hours before the blaze was able to be placed under control. No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. A pet turtle was rescued and re-united with its grateful owner. A cat was unaccounted for. The cause is under investigation.
