Mystic, Connecticut — November 26 — The Poquonnock Bridge Fire District sent the Old Mystic Fire Department (Official) to help with a first-alarm structure fire in an apartment building. In order to assist with the situation, Old Mystic arrived with a rescue unit and an engine.

As the Firefighter Assist and Search Team, OMFD was tasked with supporting crew safety and interior operations. While two more firefighters stayed in quarters to guarantee ongoing coverage throughout the Old Mystic district, eight members responded to the situation. Coordinated staffing and clearly defined responsibilities are necessary for first-alarm responses at multi-family occupancies. Departments were able to effectively handle the situation while remaining prepared for future calls around the region thanks to mutual help.
