February 21, 2026 — The Town of Canton Fire and EMS Department responded to a reported chimney fire on Dunne Avenue, bringing a swift and coordinated response that prevented further damage to the residence. Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke visible from the chimney of a single-family home. Utilizing a ladder truck, firefighters accessed the roof to assess and address the source of the fire. Crews worked efficiently in snowy and icy conditions to ensure the blaze was contained to the chimney area. No injuries were reported, and the incident was brought under control without significant structural damage to the home. The department reminds residents to have chimneys and heating systems regularly inspected and cleaned, especially during the winter months when fireplaces are in frequent use.
