Lebanon, Connecticut — December 4 — At a working fire in Colchester, the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department Inc. was asked to help the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Company. In order to assist suppression and water supply needs, Lebanon reacted with Engine Tank 206, Tanker 106, and operating crews.
To help contain the fire, LVFD members spent several hours on the scene with Colchester firemen and other supporting agencies. Temperatures were in the single digits throughout the incident, and operations were conducted in challenging circumstances. Hose lines, equipment operation, and firefighter safety all needed extra care in the cold. Coordination of mutual aid made it possible to share resources effectively and maintained operations throughout the prolonged reaction, underscoring the need of regional cooperation during difficult winter occurrences.
