November 24, 2025 — The Bayport Fire Department and the Blue Point Fire Department partnered to conduct a live vehicle extrication demonstration for students enrolled in the Bayport-Blue Point High School driver education program. The hands-on demonstration was designed to educate young drivers on the real-world dangers of motor vehicle crashes and to showcase the specialized training, tools, and coordination required during serious roadway emergencies. Firefighters simulated a complex rescue scenario involving a heavily damaged vehicle, walking students through each step of the extrication process, from scene safety and stabilization to patient access and removal. Instructors emphasized the importance of safe driving decisions while also highlighting the teamwork between fire, rescue, and emergency services that can make a life-saving difference during critical incidents.
