On 18th November 2025, Just ahead of Halloween, members of the Bridgehampton Fire Department’s EMS division took part in a practical airway management training session designed to strengthen critical life-saving skills. The drill focused on proper placement of oropharyngeal (OPA) and nasopharyngeal (NPA) airways, along with realistic suctioning techniques used in emergency medical care.

To enhance realism—and keep the training engaging—EMTs incorporated a creative, Halloween-themed approach. Alongside standard airway mannequins, crews practiced suctioning using a pumpkin “patient,” complete with a specially prepared mixture that closely simulated real-world conditions. The exercise allowed responders to practice technique, coordination, and efficiency in a controlled environment.

Training sessions like this reinforce the department’s commitment to preparedness and continuous improvement. By practicing under varied and realistic scenarios, Bridgehampton EMTs ensure they are ready to perform confidently and effectively when real emergencies arise.
