Tolland, Connecticut — 15th December — Using the department's forcible entrance door prop, a number of EMTs and firefighters from the Tolland Fire Department performed forcible enter training. The subject of the seminar was how to get through locked doors in the event of a fire, rescue, or other emergency.

Both inward-swing and outward-swing doors were practiced by the crews. Firefighters received further training on mortise-style locks, which required them to use a key tool to release the mechanism and a K-tool to remove the lock cylinder. This technique minimizes damage to glass doors while permitting entry. The exercise focused on safety, coordination, and appropriate tool use. Frequent practical training guarantees that staff members are ready to enter guarded premises in a fast and controlled manner in the event of an emergency.
