Amherst, N.H. — December 2 —As winter storm conditions approach, Amherst Fire Rescue advised locals to take critical fire and carbon monoxide safety precautions.
It is recommended that residents maintain a three-foot space around fire hydrants, remove snow from exhaust vents, and run generators outside at least 20 feet from windows and doors. When the weather permits, homeowners should securely remove heavy, wet snow and ice from rooftops. To be informed as conditions change, Amherst Fire Rescue advised locals to visit ReadyNH.gov, sign up for NH Alerts, follow NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and keep an eye on National Weather Service updates.
