Chris Brainard, a former Shelton firefighter who joined Echo Hose Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 in 2010, passed away, leaving the fire department without one of its own. His love for the fire service persisted throughout his career with the New Haven Fire Department, despite his brief tenure with the Shelton Fire Department.

After witnessing his grandfather, former Shelton Chief of Department Leroy Brainard, serve the community, Chris was motivated to pursue his dream of becoming a fireman. Chris had a lasting impression on people around him and was regarded as a great gentleman, friend, and role model. Chris's devoted wife and two kids survive him. The Shelton Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the Brainard family during this difficult time.?
