Life-Saving Teamwork Recognized After Route 8 Crash

The acts of multiple emergency personnel engaged in a serious car collision on Route 8 on November 1, 2025, were acknowledged by St. Vincent's Hospital on the evening of 9th December. Coordinated life-saving measures were needed for a seriously injured patient during the incident. Along with witnesses and Connecticut State Troopers, Assistant Chief Mike Plavcan was one of the first responders to arrive and administered life-saving care right away. The Medical Director's Award of Excellence was given to him.

Alex Neundorf, a former member of Company 1, and Shaun McGuire, a member of Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, also received the honor. At the time of the event, both were working for Storm Ambulance.
