Windham, Connecticut — November 18 — At Foxwoods Resort & Casino, 350 Trolley Line Boulevard, firefighters contained a five-alarm building fire. According to reports, the fire began in the Grand Pequot Tower's David Burke Restaurant and spread to many levels, most likely via the HVAC system. The tower's lower levels saw the start of evacuations, which later spread to the hotel and casino areas. In response, fire departments from Rhode Island and Connecticut, including Westerly, sent out rotating units and set up sections for building systems, safety, and leadership. Thermal imaging cameras monitored the spread of the fire to the roof. Engineers had to de-energies impacted locations due to electrical dangers. Crews were assisted by canteen and emergency medical services; the Windham Centre Fire Department was in operation.
