Windham, Connecticut — November 18 — A brush fire on Interstate 84 westbound between Exits 68 and 67 prompted the response of Windham Centre Fire Department units. In order to confine the fire and stop it from spreading, crews started suppression efforts as soon as they arrived and discovered burning foliage along the road.
Traffic in the area was halted while firefighters and equipment worked on the highway shoulder. While passing the scene, drivers were urged to slow down and stay vigilant. Wind, traffic, and roadside conditions can all have an impact on brush fires along highways, necessitating careful coordination and scene safety. There were no reported injuries when the fire was put out. Before clearance, firefighters stayed on the spot for monitoring and overhaul. Roadway awareness is still necessary during emergency operations, as the answer made clear.
