Thompson, Connecticut. — December 8 — A chimney fire at a home on County Home Road prompted the activation of Thompson fire units. A complete First Alarm response was triggered when the incident was upgraded to a structural fire while responders were in route. Due to the paucity of hydrants in the area, tanker operations and a draft water supply are necessary. The East Putnam Fire Department provides staffing and tanker support. A FAST squad from the Attawaugan Fire Department responded.

Command reported a fire in the walls of a woodstove chimney upon arrival. As workers breached walls on several floors, Engine Tanker 184 stretched 1½-inch lines, preventing extension before the attic was engaged. Although there was damage, the fire was contained. There were no recorded injuries to firefighters or civilians. Investigate the cause.
