East Putnam, Connecticut — December 7 — In order to help the Thompson Fire Engine Company with a working home fire, Engine Tanker 179 and Tanker 179 from the East Putnam Fire Department, situated at 263 Providence Turnpike, responded on mutual aid. Under the established incident command system, East Putnam forces were tasked with supporting water supply and fire suppression operations upon arrival. In order to ensure continuous operations on the fireground, crews worked alongside Thompson Fire and other supporting departments. In northeastern Connecticut, where nearby departments depend on shared resources and staffing during working structure fires, mutual aid responses are a standard component of emergency operations. Until their job was over and they were released by command, East Putnam personnel stayed on the site. Local fire agencies' ongoing regional collaboration is evident in the reaction.
