Hawleyville Engine Diverted to Brookfield Chimney Fire

Hawleyville, Conn. — December 10 — Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 was asked to assist the Town of Brookfield with an attic fire at 10:46 a.m. Due to a suspected chimney fire, Engine 331 was diverted to Merwin Brook Road while on route. Engine 331 was the first to arrive, verified that the chimney fire was operational, and extended a line to the basement door. Soon after, Stony Hill Truck 4 showed up and helped the crews contain the situation.

Brookfield Fire, Candlewood Company, Stony Hill, Bethel, Water Witch Hose Company, the Litchfield County Fire Coordinator, and Newtown Hook & Ladder were among the mutual-aid partners that Hawleyville VFC worked with.
