December 3, 2025 – Residents in communities surrounding the Peach Bottom Clean Energy Center heard emergency warning sirens sound Wednesday afternoon as part of a planned, semi-annual system test.

According to Constellation, the owner and operator of the facility, the full-volume test occurred at approximately 1 p.m. and lasted about three minutes. The emergency warning system includes 97 sirens positioned within a 10-mile radius of the Peach Bottom site.

Officials emphasized that the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but rather a warning for residents to tune to local Emergency Alert System television or radio stations for official instructions in the event of a real emergency. County emergency management agencies coordinate the activation of the system.

Robert Fulton Fire Company shared the reminder with area residents, encouraging the public to use the test as an opportunity to review emergency preparedness steps and remain familiar with local alert procedures.

Peach Bottom Clean Energy Center is located along Conowingo Pond in York County and generates carbon-free electricity sufficient to power more than two million homes.
