November 14, 2025 — During last evening’s drill, members of the Wilkins Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 were joined by one of their first-due partners, the Pitcairn Hose Company #1, for a combined training focused on firefighter safety, equipment familiarity, and teamwork.

The drill emphasized the importance of SCBA maintenance, proper donning and doffing, and—most critically—the Universal Emergency Breathing Safety System (UEBSS). Crews reviewed how different SCBA brands can still connect in an emergency, reinforcing interoperability and life-saving air-sharing capabilities when seconds matter most.

Beyond hands-on training, the evening also allowed time for firefighters to simply talk, connect, and build relationships. Members spent time getting to know one another, strengthening communication and trust that are essential on the fireground. After the formal drill concluded, some members played basketball while others stayed back to talk, reinforcing the camaraderie that underpins effective mutual aid responses.

Wilkins Township firefighters thanked Pitcairn Hose Company for joining the drill, noting that shared training and strong personal connections are just as important as technical skills when it comes to keeping firefighters safe.
