Hiker Rescued as Rising Water Traps Individual Near Peavine Island

November 30, 2025 – Robert Fulton Fire Company units were dispatched Sunday afternoon to assist with a reported water rescue near Peavine Island in Martic Township after a hiker became stranded by rapidly rising water levels.
Utility 89 and Marine 89, staffed with five personnel, responded alongside Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company following a 911 call placed at approximately 4:39 p.m. The caller reported being trapped on rocks after failing to notice the water level increasing around Peavine Island.
Station 58 crews quickly located the individual and safely escorted him back to shore without injury. Robert Fulton Fire Company members assisted with scene support and coordination during the operation.
All Robert Fulton Fire Company personnel were clear of the scene by 5:27 p.m., with a total of 13 members signing in for the call. No further medical treatment was required.
