ALLAMUCHY TWP., N.J. — November 17 —Members of the Allamuchy Fire Department were called to a reported car fire on Interstate 80 close to mile marker 18 early on November 17. Crews arrived, verified that the car fire was operational, and started suppression efforts right away.

Firefighters swiftly contained the fire by extending a handline. While Tanker 9171 provided more water and helped with blocking and traffic management to protect staff working on the roadway, Engine 9161 conducted the initial attack. Members stayed on the site to finish the overhaul and make sure the fire was completely put out. All units returned to duty without any reported injuries after the problem was resolved in about an hour.
