Aroostook County, ME — November 12 — Northern Maine Medical Centre and a number of regional partners recently finished an emergency preparedness exercise in Fort Kent, according to Aroostook County Emergency Management. The University of Maine at Fort Kent, the U.S. Border Patrol, the Maine Forest Service, the Fort Kent Police Department, and the Fort Kent Fire Department participated in the exercise. Teams were able to examine response procedures, patient care procedures, and communication strategies through the scenario, which was based on a fictitious campus incident. The exercise, according to officials, promoted better collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies. For rural communities that rely on shared resources, this type of training is still crucial. According to Aroostook County Emergency Management, ongoing cooperation contributes to the upkeep of a prepared and dependable regional response system.
