Chimney Fire Response Prompts Safety Reminder

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Fayette, ME - On March 4, 2026, Fayette Fire, in coordination with the Lakes Region Mutual Aid group and Livermore Falls Fire, responded to a reported chimney fire. Upon arrival, crews determined that the chimney was completely blocked, which had led to a fire in the basement.

With warmer weather approaching next week, residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to inspect their chimneys and stove pipes for creosote buildup. Performing regular maintenance can significantly reduce the risk of similar incidents.

Fire officials urge everyone to remain proactive in ensuring home safety.
