Falmouth, MA — December 6 —Residents of a four-unit apartment complex were safely evacuated when Falmouth Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 15 Davisville Road on Saturday night.

Around 5:00 p.m., a first-floor resident called to report a fire inside the building and to ask if anyone else was still inside. When Engine 25 arrived, the first-floor apartment's exterior and interior were on fire. In addition to performing main and secondary searches, crews moved a hose line to contain the flames.

Engine 20 and Ladder 26 teams searched the second floor to confirm all occupants had exited. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. During the search, firefighters located a dog and attempted resuscitation. Unfortunately, three dogs and one cat did not survive the incident.

After the fire was contained at 5:20 p.m., an overhaul and investigation were conducted. The American Red Cross was approached to help evacuated people after it was determined that the building was unusable. By 7:00 p.m., the scene had been removed by crews. Joint Base Cape Cod Fire Rescue assisted at the scene. Bourne, Sandwich, Onset, and Cotuit Fire Rescue Departments provided town coverage and handled other calls. Falmouth Police and Falmouth Animal Control supported operations.

The Falmouth Fire Rescue Fire Investigation Unit continues to review the cause of the fire.
