Avon Volunteer Fire Department Tanker 20 responded as part of Task Force 54 just before 4:00 a.m. to assist with a structure fire in Burlington. First-arriving crews found heavy smoke and visible fire in the roof area of a large residential building. With limited hydrants in the neighborhood, the water supply was a key part of the operation.

Avon firefighters supported Burlington and mutual-aid companies by shuttling water to engines working at the scene. Multiple ladders were placed, and coordinated interior and exterior work helped keep the fire contained to the upper section of the home. Crews remained on scene through the early morning for hot spot checks.

No injuries were reported.
