Avon Volunteer Fire Department, along with Avon Police and AMR Ambulance, responded to a structure fire at 6 Francis Street at 8:39 p.m. on Friday. First-arriving law enforcement confirmed that the resident and two dogs were already safely outside. Firefighters advanced lines to contain the fire, working to prevent extension through the single-story home.
Mutual aid companies, including Tunxis Hose Company No. 1, UConn Fire Department, Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, and Canton Fire & EMS, assisted with fire attack, search support, and water supply. Crews worked under moderate smoke conditions visible from the roof area.
The fire was brought under control without reported injuries.
