November 7, 2025 —Butts County Fire & Emergency Services announced that all outdoor burning is suspended today due to overcast conditions causing smoke to remain close to the ground. Officials explained that the lack of atmospheric lift prevents smoke from dispersing, creating unhealthy air quality—especially for residents with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory issues.

The department emphasized that even small fires can worsen conditions for vulnerable groups, including children, seniors, and those with respiratory or cardiac concerns. They thanked the community for cooperating to help safeguard public health and protect neighbors who may be at higher risk.
