Members of the Swansea Fire Department recently finished training on newly acquired personal Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs). These mobile gadgets allow individual firefighters the capacity to continuously check heat conditions in dangerous areas, boosting both safety and operational awareness.

During the training, new recruits worked in a controlled, smoke-filled environment employing a dramatic smoke machine to imitate low-visibility conditions. Instructors demonstrated how TICs can identify heat sources, find hazards, and support search operations when vision is limited. The hands-on practice gave firefighters a clearer understanding of how the technology will assist them on the fireground.
