Members of the Bristol Fire Department visited The Salvation Army in Bristol as the group began giving meals to local families for the holiday season. This year, more than 600 families are registered for support. B-Shift and the Chief’s Office gave $985, and the Fire Marshal’s Office provided eight frozen turkeys to support the effort. Stop & Shop on Farmington Avenue supplied the turkeys through their local store.

Through Monday, the department will continue to gather non-perishable food donations from drop-off boxes at City Hall and Fire Headquarters. Officials said monetary and gift card gifts remain the easiest method to help, and praised community partners for supporting families in need throughout the holidays.
