Canton, CT — November 2 —The Town of Canton Fire & EMS Department responded on Sunday evening to a reported structure fire on Wright Road. While units were their route, dispatchers got information that people might still be inside the home. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the building was heavily damaged by fire and helped one resident. Automatic mutual help from adjacent agencies supported fire suppression and tanker operations at the incident.

A firefighter's leg broke through a section of flooring that had been damaged by fire while doing interior work. The firefighter was assessed by EMS on-scene and did not require transport. The cause of the fire is being looked into by the Canton Fire Marshal's Office.
