Water Rescue- Norwalk River

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported person floating in the Norwalk River on Sunday, March 15, 2026


Norwalk 911 received a call from a person on Commerce St. who reported they saw someone floating in the river.  1st arriving companies were able to make contact with the caller who stated they saw the person on the other side of the river near the rocks floating with the current.  Firefighters made their way behind #9 Wall Street where they were able to get a visual of a female floating in the water. (2) firefighters in cold water suits entered the water and were able to successfully grab the victim and maneuver her towards the shore.  Firefighters were able to remove her from the water up the rock covered embankment into a stokes basket.  At this point she was carried to a waiting stretcher and transferred over to EMS.  


At this time, the female patient has been admitted to Norwalk Hospital, with no further information on her condition.
