October 25, 2025 – Banks County Fire & EMS has announced a major advancement in emergency medical care with the implementation of lifesaving blood product administration directly in the field. This new capability allows paramedics to begin critical interventions immediately—long before patients arrive at the hospital—significantly improving survival rates for those experiencing severe bleeding or trauma. The initiative represents the current gold standard in prehospital trauma care and marks a transformative step forward for emergency services in Banks County.
The department extended its gratitude to the Banks County Board of Commissioners and Chief Nichols for their steadfast support and continued investment in public safety. Additional appreciation was given to Medical Director Dr. Johnson and the Northeast Georgia Health System for their essential partnership in making this program a reality.
