Effingham, NH — October 28 — The Effingham Fire/Rescue department resumed granting permits for Category 1 and Category 2 open burns when the statewide burning ban was repealed. With a proper permit, residents might once again start small, controlled fires under the new guidelines. Brush-pile fires and other Category 3 burns are still prohibited for the time being. Permit holders were advised by officials to adhere to safety regulations, monitor flames closely, keep a safe distance from structures, and stay put until the fire was completely put out. The government stressed that breaking the restrictions or burning without a valid authorization could result in enforcement action. In accordance with the revised rules, community members were asked to get permits and burn sensibly.
