Falmouth, MA: Falmouth Fire Rescue took part in a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection spill response practice on Oct. 29th in Woods Hole's inner harbor. The location was chosen because of its sensitivity and the possible impact a spill could have on nearby facilities run by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Marine Biological Laboratory. The practice aimed to improve operational cooperation and preparedness for marine-based environmental emergencies.
Falmouth Natural Resources, Mashpee Natural Resources, NOAA Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, WHOI, MBL, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeast New England, and Nuka Research & Planning Group were among the agencies involved, with the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services providing support.
