GUILDERLAND, N.Y. — Nov. 2 — At 14:49, the Guilderland Fire Department responded to a complaint of flames coming from a home's chimney. First-arriving crews confirmed that the fire in the fireplace was out, but flames were visible at the top of the chimney cap.

Firefighters from the Westmere Fire Department and the Fort Hunter Fire Department collaborated to gain access to the roof and quickly brought the fire under control. Crews remained on scene to perform an overhaul and check for hidden hot spots or any possible extension within the structure.
