Smoke Investigation at Auto Repair Facility Held to Equipment Issue

Spring Township, Pa. — November 1 —Township of Spring Fire & Rescue Services Engine 85 responded Saturday evening to a mutual-aid structure fire on Lancaster Avenue in Cumru Township after receiving complaints of dense black smoke coming from the roof of a business building. Crews arrived to find a single-story auto repair shop with smoke coming from the chimney.
Engine 85's crew met with the manager, who informed them that an oil burner was suspected to be malfunctioning. Firefighters entered the structure, metering the interior with normal readings throughout, and cutting power to the burner while more units checked the roof. With no other threats discovered, command released Engine 85, requiring no additional services.
