Darlington, Pa. — November 18 — Station 18 and other mutual-aid agencies responded to a big fire at the Brickyard Auto Salvage scrap yard shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Engine 182, Tanker 18, Squad 18, Rescue 18, and Brush 18 were dispatched to the area, with additional fire departments sending engines, tankers, ladders, manpower, and support resources.
With no hydrants in the region, personnel set up a rural water supply with three portable drop tanks and a regular rotation of tankers. Elevated master streams from Beaver Falls Ladder 22, East Palestine Tower Ladder 1, and Chippewa Township helped extinguish fires from above while ground crews worked on various hotspots across the yard. Rehabilitation and emergency medical services units monitored personnel, while Beaver County Emergency Services Hazmat assisted with site operations.
Crews brought the fire under control at approximately 9:15 p.m., and Station 18 thanked all responding fire, EMS, and police agencies for the coordinated response. Members also expressed appreciation to community residents who delivered water, food, and sports drinks to support personnel during the extended incident.
