Long Pond, PA — 31 October — On Fire Prevention Day, the Tobyhanna Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Tobyhanna Township Bureau of Fire joined Department Tunkhannock Twp. Vol. Fire Co. Station 42, 1539 Long Pond Rd, Long Pond, PA at the Tobyhanna Elementary Centre. Firefighters assisted kids in exploring fire vehicles and equipment, showed them turnout gear and tools, and talked to them about what to do in an emergency.
The fire safety trailer, where children practiced finding exits, meeting at a secure location outdoors, and crawling low under simulated smoke, was a crucial component of the visit. The occasion reinforced education as a crucial instrument in community risk reduction and promoted statewide fire-prevention initiatives during October. When the school visit was over, crews went back to work.
