Roadway Closed After Tree Strikes Occupied Car on Universal Road

Penn Hills, Pa. — October 20 — Shortly before 11:30 a.m., Rescue Companies 223 and 227 were dispatched to Cedarwood Drive near Universal Road for a report of a tree falling on an inhabited vehicle. Rescue 223 and Rescue 227 arrived and promptly set up traffic control to secure the incident. Personnel from 227 began providing patient care to the vehicle's operator until Penn Hills EMS arrived. The driver was evaluated and later refused transport.
Crews stayed on scene until the area was turned over to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works, which would remove the fallen tree. The event was led by 223 Captain, and units 223RQ, 223MP, 227RQ, 227CV, PHPD, and PHEMS assisted with the reaction.
