Dwelling Fire on Gravel Pike in Upper Hanover Twp.

UPPER HANOVER TWP., PA - On Thursday, November 17th at 5:14 A.M., East Greenville Fire Co., and several other fire companies from the Upper Montgomery County area were dispatched to a dwelling fire on the 800 block of Gravel Pike in Upper Hanover Twp., in the village of Palm.

Upon arrival, Chief 38 had fire showing in the rear of the dwelling on the first floor. Heavy smoke showed once the rear side door was opened to gain access. The family was evacuated from the dwelling, but a dog and a pet raccoon had to be rescued.

Quick response from the fire companies arriving on scene had the fire under control within the 20 minute mark. Checking for extension and overhaul was to follow. There were no injuries, and both the dog and raccoon seemed to be alright once they were brought out. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Assisting East Greenville Fire Co. were fire companies from Pennsburg, Hereford, Upper Milford, and Eastern Berks. Fire Police from East Greenville and Pennsburg were also on scene, as was Upper Perk EMS ambulance.
