Pittsburgh, PA. — September 27 — Bauerstown VFD crews responded to a motor vehicle crash involving entrapment on Sunday afternoon in the 2000 block of Mt.Royal Boulevard.
Around 12:25 p.m., firefighters from Bauerstown VFD and several nearby departments were called to the scene after the crash was reported. A command officer arrived with rescue and engine units and set up command as the crews evaluated the vehicle and its occupant.
Firefighters from the responding rescue and engine companies worked together to secure the vehicle and start the extrication process. The patient was quickly removed from the vehicle and handed over to EMS personnel for further medical care.
After the patient was taken out, firefighters stayed at the scene to manage containment and cleanup activities.
They also helped in removing the damaged vehicle before the incident was fully cleared.
Fire police officers managed traffic control while Mt. Royal Boulevard was closed in the affected area. The temporary road closure allowed firefighters and EMS teams to work safely around the vehicle and provided enough space for rescue operations to be completed effectively.
This incident highlighted the importance of working together between fire, rescue, EMS and fire police teams during entrapment situations.
