Crews Contain Chimney Fire on Mount Airy Harbourton Road

West Amwell, N.J. — November 15 — At 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, the West Amwell Fire Company responded to a reported chimney fire in the 200 block of Mount Airy Harbourton Road. Battalion 26 (Siwy) came in minutes, identified the active chimney fire, and took command. Rescue Engine 17 entered the property to investigate, while Quint 26 set up its main and ground ladders for access. Lieutenant 17-1 took operations, while Tender 48-1 established a water supply to the quint.

Additional units from BC Engine 46, HC Engine 47, and district chiefs created a manpower pool as crews deployed chimney chains and tested them for extension. Fire was discovered in the structure surrounding the chimney, which was then opened up and extinguished. The crisis was under control within an hour.

West Amwell Township Police handled traffic control, and a BLS unit remained on standby. Mutual-aid partners from Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad, New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, City of Lambertville Fire District #1, Delaware Township Fire Company, and Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps assisted on scene. Command thanked all supporting agencies for their coordinated response.
