Etna, N.Y. — October 17 — During Fire Prevention Month, the Etna Volunteer Fire Department reached dozens of kids and parents this afternoon by holding a community fire safety program at the Ithaca Lowe's.
Firefighters presented home safety advice, led tours of fire equipment, and provided practical demonstrations. Activity kits and materials were given to families so they could practice home fire drills together. Additionally, the program made kids feel more at ease around firefighters and helped them realize that they are reliable sources of assistance in an emergency.
