Brooktondale, N.Y. — October 19 — The Brooktondale Volunteer Fire Company arrived at the 700 block of East Miller Road in the Town of Danby in response to a report of a downed tree and wires, with live electrical lines igniting a brush fire.
When an assistant chief arrived, he discovered that flames were quickly spreading towards an adjacent house. The Danby and Slaterville Fire Departments were asked to provide mutual aid. Before the fire reached the house, firefighters swiftly put it out, keeping it contained until NYSEG workers cut off the area's electricity.
