Greenwich, NJ - Firefighters from Greenwich Township Fire & Rescue deployed heavy apparatus and specialized support units Tuesday to assist Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue at the scene of a major barn fire in Salem County.

Mutual aid companies were summoned on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to support ongoing operations at a large agricultural structure fire within Lower Alloways Creek Township.

Greenwich Fire Department (GFD) dispatched its water tender to integrate into an expansive rural water shuttle operation, delivering continuous bulk water supplies to operating attack engines where municipal hydrant infrastructure was unavailable.

Additionally, Greenwich deployed UTV-14 and UTV-14-2 to navigate the large perimeter and challenging terrain of the rural fireground. The utility task vehicles functioned as tactical mobility assets, shuttling relief personnel, essential equipment, and suppression tools across the expansive incident footprint.

Through coordinated inter-agency operations between Lower Alloways Creek, Greenwich Township, and neighboring Salem County emergency services, crews established sustained fire streams and logistical staging to bring the large rural blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
