Westville, NJ - Firefighters from the Westville Fire Department and Bellmawr Fire Department responded to an active vehicle fire along Interstate 295 Southbound early Wednesday afternoon in Gloucester County.

Emergency units were dispatched at 1:04 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, for a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 295 South near mile marker 26.2.

Bellmawr Quint 3 arrived first on scene, encountering an involved vehicle along the highway shoulder, and immediately stretched an 1¾-inch front bumper line to initiate fire suppression.

Westville Ladder 736, having just cleared and gone available from a separate residential dwelling fire assignment, arrived on scene to establish a water supply to Quint 3 and assist with active overhaul and suppression operations. Squad 3 also responded to support the highway operation.

Crews rapidly extinguished the flames and secured the vehicle, mitigating roadway hazards and preventing secondary spread along the travel corridor. No injuries were reported.
