Engine 11 and Engine 13 Dispatched to Gales Ferry House Fire

Ledyard, CT — October 30 — On Friday evening, the Ledyard Fire Company deployed in conjunction with the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company to address a working structure fire located on Mill Cove Road within the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard.

Engine 11 and Engine 13 from the Ledyard Fire Company were initially deployed following a 5:25 p.m. dispatch triggered by a report of a residential fire. Upon arrival, personnel observed active flames emanating from the second-floor windows of a single-family dwelling, prompting the request for additional emergency resources to support firefighting efforts; Ladder 25 was subsequently deployed as part of the ongoing operation.

Although several individuals were present within the residence, they managed to evacuate safely prior to the conclusion of firefighting operations. Fire crews diligently engaged in efforts to suppress the blaze and performed a thorough search of the structure.

Amidst the search operations, firefighters successfully located a family cat within the residence and facilitated its safe return to its owner; fortunately, no injuries were sustained. The Ledyard Fire Marshal's Office initiated an inquiry into the origin of the blaze. The response highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Ledyard and Gales Ferry fire companies, which collectively delivered fire protection and emergency services throughout the town's approximately 40 square miles.
