Port Washington, N.Y. — October 27 — As Fire Prevention Month continues, members of the Port Washington Fire Department visited Salem Elementary School and Friends Together Nursery School to teach students key lessons on fire safety and prevention.

Assistant Chief Joseph LoRe and Ex-Chief Brian Waterson led the sessions, speaking with second graders and preschoolers about smoke alarms, escape planning, and what to do if a fire occurs. The visits are part of the department’s ongoing effort to promote safety awareness among the community’s youngest residents throughout October.
