Long Beach FD Responds to Overnight Crash with Downed Wires.

Long Beach, N.Y. — October 15 — The City of Long Beach Fire Department responded just before 4:00 a.m. to a motor vehicle collision on Albany Avenue in Atlantic Beach. A vehicle left the roadway near the Atlantic Beach Bridge approach, came down into a vacant fenced lot, and brought down a PSEG utility pole, resulting in live wires on the vehicle. Crews gained access to the lot using bolt cutters.
The driver was the sole occupant and was transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau by Atlantic Beach Rescue Ambulance 369. Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Medic 3299 assisted on scene. The Nassau County Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. All operations were under the command of Chief John Marino and Assistant Chiefs DiGiacomo and Ray.
