Selkirk, NY - Firefighters from the Selkirk Fire Department responded on mutual aid early Sunday morning to assist the Coeymans Hollow Fire Department with an outside brush fire burning inside an active industrial quarry off Jarvis Road South.
Operating units were dispatched during the morning hours of Sunday, November 1, 2026, for a reported outside fire near 321 Jarvis Road South. Initial arriving Coeymans Hollow companies located a significant brush fire burning through a wooded sector of the quarry, which was determined to have been ignited by an unattended campfire.
After Coeymans Hollow personnel achieved an initial knockdown of the active flames, Selkirk units mobilized specialized off-road and support equipment into the difficult terrain to supply water and conduct extensive mop-up operations. Responders thoroughly drenched the perimeter and saturated deep-seated hotspots across the remote tract to eliminate the risk of flare-ups.
Selkirk Fire Department apparatus operating on the incident included Units 29-03, 29-15, 29-53, and 29-55, along with utility off-road vehicle Gator 29-57.
